How does the IOE college priority order work?

Put the college you genuinely want first. A lower choice cannot pull you out of a higher one you already qualified for, and your rank alone decides whether you qualify.

Rank the colleges in the order you actually want them. Priority order is not a bet, and this is the rule most commonly misunderstood: a safe option placed second does not reduce your chance at your first choice.

What ranking does and does not do

It does not affect whether you qualify anywhere. Your IOE rank does that.
It decides, among the places your rank can reach, which one you are allocated.
Ranking a safe option second does not reduce your chance at your first choice.
Leaving a college off entirely is the only way to guarantee you are not allocated there.

The amendment deadline is a campus deadline, not yours

In the 2083 cycle amendment opened on 19 August at 10:00, and each campus had to email its final amended priority order to the committee by 22 August at 15:00. That is a campus-side cut-off, which means your real deadline is earlier by however long your campus needs to process the change. Do not arrive at 14:30 on the last day.

Four checks before you submit

Confirm each college is listed under the name the portal uses, which is not always the name it currently trades under.
Check every programme separately. Civil, Computer and Electronics are distinct entries, not one college entry.
Where a campus runs both Regular and Full Fee, confirm which list you are on. They are separate seat pools with different counts.
Get written confirmation from the campus that your amendment was sent, because what reaches IOE is what your campus sent.

What is the IOE central admission timetable, and how many merit lists are there?
Three centrally scheduled lists, each published by 10:00 with a complaint hour from 11:00 to 14:00 and a revised list by 18:00. Anything after the third list is run by the individual campus.
Why does Janakpur Engineering College appear where Imperial College of Engineering should be?
They are the same institution. The college was established in 2058 BS as Janakpur Engineering College and renamed in 2082 BS; IOE’s records still carry the former name.
What can I do if my IOE admission list entry is wrong?
Every merit list has a published complaint window of 11:00 to 14:00 on the day it appears, with a revised list by 18:00. It is the only fast route to a correction.
