Privacy policy

Last reviewed by Imperial College of Engineering. This policy is re-checked whenever the website or either app changes what it collects, and the date above changes with it.

This policy covers the website at icenepal.com and the two mobile applications published by Imperial College of Engineering: ICE Nepaland Kaamko. The three are not the same, and the difference matters — the website carries analytics and advertising tags, andthe apps carry none at all.

Imperial College of Engineering (formerly Janakpur Engineering College) is the data controller. We are at Tathali, Bhaktapur, Bagmati Province, Nepal.

The short version

  • We do not sell your data, and we never have.
  • We do not ask you to create an account for anything on this site or in either app.
  • Every calculator runs on your own device. What you type into one is not sent anywhere.
  • The website measures traffic with Google Analytics and Meta's advertising pixel. The apps do not.
  • If you send us an admission enquiry, we keep what you typed so that we can answer it.

The website

What is collected automatically

Loading a page on icenepal.com places cookies and sends usage information to three third parties:

  • Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-N8H4T9MVR8) — pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived. Used to understand which pages are worth keeping. Google's handling of that data is governed byGoogle's privacy policy.
  • Meta Pixel (ID 910498538101960) — records that a visit happened, so that our Facebook and Instagram advertising can be measured and targeted. Governed byMeta's privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare — serves the site and records standard request logs (IP address, time, page, user agent) for delivery and abuse prevention, plus an aggregate web-analytics beacon.

You can stop all three by using a browser that blocks trackers, or by using the apps instead, which contain none of them.

What you give us deliberately

The admission form at /apply and the enquiry form at/inquiry collect the name, phone number, email address, programme of interest and entrance details you enter. They are submitted to a Google Form and stored in a Google Sheet that only college admissions staff can open. We use them to answer your enquiry and to follow up about admission, and for nothing else. We do not pass them to any third party for marketing.

The IOE rank lookup reads a published pass list that is already public. Searching it does not record who searched.

What is stored on your own device

The site stores your light-or-dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device, it is not an identifier, and clearing your browser data removes it.

The apps: ICE Nepal and Kaamko

Neither app collects any data about you. That is a build-time guarantee rather than a promise: the analytics and advertising tags that run on the website are removed when the app bundle is assembled, and the release check fails if either reappears. There is no sign-in, no advertising identifier, no crash-reporting SDK and no third-party analytics of any kind in either app.

  • Everything is on your device. Both apps carry their content inside the app itself and work with no connection at all. Every calculator — tax, EMI, land area, GPA, concrete, rebar and the rest — runs on your phone. Nothing you type is transmitted.
  • Photos and PDFs stay on your phone. In Kaamko, the PDF tools and the Image to PDF tool open only the file you pick, convert it on the device, and save the result back. No file is uploaded. Kaamko asks for camera and photo access solely so that you can choose a picture for that tool.
  • Live rates are a plain request for public data. The forex, fuel, gold, vegetable-price and share-price tools fetch published figures from icenepal.com when you open them. That request is answered from our own server, which records only what any web server records — the request, the time and the connecting IP address. Nothing about you is sent with it, and the other tools make no network request at all.
  • One optional exception. The Romanized typing mode of the Preeti converter sends the word you are typing to Google's input-tools service to get Nepali suggestions back. It runs only in that one mode of that one tool, and the direct Preeti conversion needs no network.
  • Links that leave the app. Tapping a link to the college website, or to Facebook, Google Maps or WhatsApp, opens it in a browser tab. From that point the policy of the site you have opened applies, including the website tags described above.

Children

Neither the website nor the apps is directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Prospective students who contact us about admission are ordinarily 16 or older.

How long we keep things

Admission and enquiry submissions are kept for as long as they are useful to the admissions cycle they belong to, and are reviewed annually. Google Analytics data expires on Google's own schedule (14 months by default). Server logs are retained briefly for security and diagnostics.

Your choices

Write to [email protected] or call01-5091616 to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Tell us the phone number or email address you used so that we can find the record. There is nothing to request for the apps, because there is nothing to find.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it and the app listings point at this same page, so the current version is always the one you are reading.
