Formerly Janakpur Engineering College (JEC)Affiliated to Tribhuvan University

What engineering costs are not covered by the published fee?

Nepal Engineering Council registration, field study tours, extra subjects and additional practical classes, hostel charges, and TU registration if you are not already registered.

The published fee tables are not the whole cost of a degree. The booklet names several charges the student carries directly, and they are worth adding to any comparison you are making.

What the student bears

  • Nepal Engineering Council registration and related fees.
  • Any academic activity not named in the curriculum: extra subjects, field study tours, additional practical classes.
  • Hostel charges, set by the rules of the campus concerned.
  • Additional semester fees where a programme runs beyond eight semesters.

TU registration, if you are not already registered

Passed your qualifying exam within Nepal
Rs 500
Passed your qualifying exam abroad
Rs 1,000

One more that surprises people

Under the sponsored quota, the tuition fee is 30% higher than the individual full-fee programme tuition. A sponsored seat is not a discounted seat.

How to use this when comparing colleges

Ask every college for the total across four years, then ask specifically what sits outside it. NEC registration and field trips apply wherever you study, so they are not a differentiator; hostel and transport very much are, and those are the two that move a family’s answer.

From the notes to section 9 and section 6.4 of the booklet, pages 20 to 21. The booklet also notes that other charges may be added in cases specified by TU.
