What is the Unique IOE Roll Number, and when do I get it?
It is the number IOE assigns to every admitted BE and B.Arch student, and it is the point at which your admission becomes fixed. It is issued on 5 November 2026 if you were admitted by 2 November at 17:00, and on 6 December if you came in through the vacant-seat window.
The Unique IOE Roll Number is the identifier the Institute of Engineering issues to each admitted student, centrally rather than by the campus. Two dates apply and which one is yours depends on when you were admitted. Everyone admitted by 2 November 2026 at 17:00 receives theirs on 5 November. Anyone admitted later, in the vacant-seat window that runs to 2 December, receives theirs on 6 December. The number matters because programme change at your campus closes the moment it is issued, and because the Centralized Admission Monitoring Committee files the complete record of admitted students, roll numbers included, with the Dean’s office on 14 December.
What does the roll number close?
Programme change at the campus that admitted you. Once your roll number is issued you may not move to a different programme there, and IOE prints its own example rather than leaving it to interpretation: a student admitted to Computer Engineering who has received a roll number may not shift to Civil Engineering at the same campus. The single exception is a move inside your own programme, from the Full Fee category to the Regular category, which stays available.
Is it the same as a TU registration number?
No. Three separate numbers arrive in the same few weeks and students routinely mix them up.

- A separate form with copies of your transcripts, certificates and citizenship. Rs 500 if you passed your qualifying examination in Nepal, Rs 1,000 if abroad, and nothing if you are already registered with TU
- Campus ID and library card
- Issued by your own campus. You have to attend in person on the notified day with two passport-size and two auto-size photographs
What happens after the roll numbers are issued?
The committee closes the year’s record. On 14 December 2026 it submits to the IOE Dean’s office the details of every student admitted at every campus and college, roll numbers included, and the procedure states that this submission is the final admission record for the year. Anything a campus has not entered by then is not in it.
What should you check when yours arrives?
That the programme and the seat category on it are the ones you accepted. The roll number is the point at which both stop being negotiable at that campus, so a Full Fee entry you believed was Regular, or a programme recorded against the wrong choice, is far cheaper to correct in the days before it is issued than afterwards. Your entry on the central admission portal is where to check.
