The milestone dates are arithmetic, not eligibility. They say when you turn an age. They do not say whether a service, a licence or a scholarship will accept you at it — every commission and every scheme sets its own limit, counts it on its own reference date, and changes it from time to time. Read the notice.

Why a Nepali age is not the subtraction you expect

A Bikram Sambat month is not 30 days. It runs from 29 to 32, it differs from one year to the next, and the sequence is published rather than derived. So the months-and-days part of an age cannot be worked out by dividing; it has to be counted against the real length of the month before the date you are asking about.

That is what this page does, using the same published month table as the date converter and the calendar. Enter a date in either calendar and the arithmetic happens on the Nepali one, because that is the calendar the form is dated in.

The age a form wants is rarely today's

Application forms ask for your age as on a date — the closing date, the first day of the session, the date of the examination. A birthday falling between that date and the day you fill the form changes the answer by a whole year, and it is the single commonest error on a handwritten application.

So the date you are being asked about is an input here rather than an assumption. Set it to the closing date on the notice and the answer above is the number that belongs in the box.

What happens to a birthday on 30 Falgun

Some BS months have 29 days in one year and 30 in another, so a person born on the 30th of such a month has years where that date does not exist. The next-birthday and milestone rows fall back to the last day the month actually has that year, which is what offices do in practice — and the page marks the row rather than silently shifting your birthday into the next month.

Days lived, and why it is not years × 365

The total days figure counts the real calendar between the two dates, leap years and short months included. Multiplying years by 365 drifts by about a week per three decades, which is enough to matter when the number is being used to check a service record or a pension date.

About to apply somewhere?

If the form you are filling is an engineering admission form, the ICE admissions page sets out what else it will ask for, and the application itself takes about three minutes.

Common questions

Is this Nepali age calculator page free to use?
Yes. Every Kaamko tool is free, with no sign-up, no account and no usage limit. They are published by Imperial College of Engineering, a Tribhuvan University-affiliated engineering college in Tathali, Bhaktapur, and are not funded by advertising.
Does what I type get sent anywhere?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: the calculation happens on your own device, nothing you type is uploaded, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
Where do the figures come from?
Each tool names its source on the page, along with the date that source was read. Where a rate or a slab is provisional — announced in a budget speech but not yet gazetted, for instance — the page says so rather than presenting it as settled.
Who maintains these tools?
Imperial College of Engineering, formerly Janakpur Engineering College, in Tathali, Bhaktapur, Nepal. Corrections are welcome by phone on 01-5091616 or through the contact page, and a figure reported as wrong is checked against its published source rather than adjusted on request.
