A rate is not a price. The federation publishes the rate its members trade metal at. A shop adds a making charge, may add wastage, and may or may not add VAT depending on what is being sold and how. Ask for the making charge as a number before you agree to anything — it is the part that varies.

The rate is the easy half of the bill
Everyone checks the rate. Almost nobody asks the making charge before they choose a design, and that is the number with the room in it: on a worked ornament it is commonly a tenth of the bill and can be far more, while the metal price is the same in every shop in the city on the same day.
So this page splits the two. Type the weight and the making charge your shop quotes, and the split is shown as rupees and as a share. If a second shop quotes the same rate and a lower making charge, that is the whole difference.
Tola and grams are not a round conversion
One tola is 11.6638 grams. A rate quoted per 10 grams is therefore not a tenth of the per-tola rate, and a shop quoting in grams against a rate you remember in tola is not necessarily quoting you a different price. Both are shown above, along with the per-gram figure that makes them comparable.
The federation publishes both, and this page checks them against each other: if the per-tola and per-10-gram rates disagree once converted, the page refuses to show either rather than pick one.
Why the change since yesterday is shown
A single day's rate answers "what does it cost". The move answers "should I wait", which is the question people actually have. The federation's payload carries yesterday's rate beside today's, so the comparison comes from the source rather than from anything we store.
