About Solitaire
This is Klondike, the patience game most people simply call Solitaire. It is played alone with one standard deck of 52 cards, and the goal is to move every card to four foundation piles, one per suit, in order from Ace up to King. The cards on this page were drawn in CSS for Kaamko, and the game is our own code, so there are no adverts and nothing is tracked. Your best time for each draw mode stays on this device.
Choose Draw 1 for a relaxed game that you can win most of the time, or Draw 3 for the traditional harder version, where only every third card of the stock is playable on each pass.
How to play Solitaire
- The seven columns on the table are the tableau. Only the bottom card of each column starts face up.
- In a column, build down in alternating colours: a red 9 can go on a black 10. You can move a whole run of face-up cards together.
- Only a King, or a run starting with a King, can go into an empty column.
- When a face-down card is uncovered, it turns over by itself.
- Tap the stock, top left, to deal cards to the waste. When the stock is empty, tap it again to turn the waste back over. There is no limit on passes.
- Tap a card and it goes to the best place it fits, a foundation first. If it fits nowhere it is picked, and your next tap chooses where it goes. You can also drag cards, and Undo takes back any move.
- When every card is face up, Auto-complete finishes the game for you.
Strategy that wins more games
Uncovering face-down cards matters more than anything else, so prefer moves that free a card in the tableau over moves from the waste. Work on the longest columns first, because that is where most hidden cards are. Do not empty a column unless you have a King ready to put in it. Be slow to move low cards to the foundations early in the game when you might still need them to hold a run of the other colour. In Draw 3, think before you draw: playing one card from the waste changes which cards you will see on the next pass.
On a keyboard, Tab moves between cards, Enter plays the focused card, D deals from the stock and U undoes.
